65 billion loss due to internet shutdown in Pakistan

In 2023, the economy of Pakistan had to suffer a loss of 65 billion rupees due to the internet shutdown.

830 lakh Pakistanis were affected by this shutdown. The total duration of the internet shutdown was 259 hours. which are shown in the latest yen data

Last year, India topped the list for the longest period of internet shutdown in the world. Where the internet facility was stopped for 47 crore users. However, India has the fourth place in the world in terms of internet connectivity.

Russia is at the top in terms of financial loss due to the internet shutdown. Where the internet service remained closed for 1350 hours due to which the financial loss has been estimated at 4 billion dollars. 11.3 million users were affected. The financial loss to the Indian economy was estimated at 8 billion Pakistani currency and 10 crore rupees. 5 crore 90 lakh users were affected.

Internet service in India was highest in Occupied Kashmir and Rajasthan. The Internet in India was shut down in advance to prevent public protests in the country. While in Manipur, the internet was closed because of ethnic tension.
