Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based robotics and engineering has recently introduced a shoe named ‘Moonwalker‘.
This pair of shoes is powers by battery and increases the walking speed of the wearer by 250%.
At first glance, this pair of Moonwalkers looks like futuristic roller skaters. But there’s actually more to it than that.

In fact, when you walk while wearing them, unlike regular shoes or sneakers, the mechanical or motorized wheels in them apply a spring to your feet.
The Moonwalker is powers by a state-of-the-art (high-tech) brush DC motor. A very versatile device. It is actually a platform that can be attach to the footwear in different ways which increases your walking speed by 7 miles per hour.
This can be compare to the average walking speed of a human being 2.5 to 4 miles per hour, but using it more than doubles that speed.
The astonishing speed of this world’s fastest shoe can be gauged from the moving walkway at the airport.
Designed by Shift Robotics, a subsidiary of Carnegie Mellon University, the Moonwalker consists of a 300-watt, 9-kilogram brushless motor that drives its 8 polyurethane wheels.
While it also has an automatic gearbox that instructs the speed reduction according to the data received from the sensors.
