It should noted that Ravindra Jadeja took 5 wickets in the first innings of the first Test match against Australia.
Several Australian websites accused Jadeja of using a foreign substance on his bowling hand in the middle of a spell. Although it is true that Jadeja rubbed something on his finger. It was nothing that the Australian media tried to portray as such. At no point did he rub any foreign object on the ball in his hand.
After the opening day’s play, India captain Rohit Sharma and Jadeja told match referee Andy Pycroft that the Saurashtra spinner “applied pain-relieving cream on the index finger of his bowling arm to treat the pain in his finger. Which is within Rules.”
The incident came after Jadeja had already dismissed three Australian batsmen, including the dangerous duo of Marnes Leboschgen and Steve Smith, to reduce them to 120 for five.
