Russia & Ukraine swap nearly 200 prisoners. On Sunday, both Russia and Ukraine announced that nearly 100 soldiers from each side had returned.
In a message on the Telegram messaging app, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that 94 Russians held captive by Ukraine freed following negotiations and taken to a hospital to examined.
The president of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, reported that 95 Ukrainian service members, some of whom injured, had returned. They included border guards and members of the National Guard.
Yermak claimed that those who freed had been in action close to the city of Mariupol, which under Russian siege for weeks the year before, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which Russian forces had briefly held, Serpent Island in the Black Sea, and Bakhmut, which was still the scene of intense fighting in the east.
