Imran Khan Stumped:22 more MPAs of PTI decide to support the opposition

Reports have surfaced that 22 more MPAs of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have decided to support the opposition, with Hamza Shahbaz likely to get 223 votes in the polls for the Punjab Chief Minister.

According to Express News reports, after the Supreme Court decision, after the support of members of Tareen and Aleem Khan group in Punjab, 22 more members of PTI Provincial Assembly have also decided to support united opposition.

Hamza Shahbaz is likely to get 223 votes in the polls for the Chief Minister’s post. It is also reported that members of United Opposition Punjab Assembly will be shifted from Gulberg local hotel to another hotel today and in this regard 150 rooms have also been booked in a hotel located in Cantt.

The decision to relocate from the Gulberg Hotel was taken due to workers’ protests and traffic problems there, while the new hotel being in Cantt will not allow anyone to hold any kind of gathering or demonstration.

It may be recalled that in a symbolic meeting of united opposition held at a local hotel in Lahore, a resolution was passed to elect Hamza Shahbaz as the Chief Minister of Punjab.

The slogans of Shahbaz resounded and Maryam Nawaz, Ataullah Tarar, Aun Chaudhry and others also participated in the meeting.

It has been reported that the symbolic meeting of the united opposition was held at a private hotel on Mall Road in which PML-N, PPP, Jahangir Tareen group, Aleem Khan group, Asad Khokhar group and other like-minded members of the assembly participated.

Shazia Abid, a member of the panel of chairmen for the current session of the Assembly, presided over the meeting.

In the meeting, Chaudhry Iqbal Gujran of PML-N presented a resolution in which it was stated that in the presence of 200 members of opposition and allied parties in the recent Punjab Assembly meeting convened by Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Muhammad Mazari.

I strongly condemn the unconstitutional and illegal measures taken in the Punjab Assembly a few days ago.

The meeting expresses full confidence in Hamza Shahbaz with a clear majority of 200 members. Later, the hall resounded with slogans of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.
