Cyclone Biparjoy to hit Sindh today

Cyclone Biparjoy to hit Sindh today. According to News, Cyclone Biparjoy, which since weakened into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS), forecast to make landfall tomorrow evening, June 15, near Keti Bandar in Sindh as it approaches Pakistan’s coast from a distance of about 310 kilometers away from Karachi.

Around 9:30 p.m., the Pakistan Meteorological Department released its most recent advisory, which indicated that Cyclone Biparjoy was about 310 km south of Karachi, 300 km south-southwest of Thatta, and 240 km south-southwest of Keti Bandar.

The alert stated that there were “phenomenal sea conditions around the system center with maximum wave height [of] 30 feet” and that there were “maximum sustained surface winds are 150-160km/hour, gusts 180km/hour around the system center.”

The “very severe cyclonic storm” was likely to continue tracking north-northeastward under the current upper-level steering winds, the statement continued. It predicted to pass between Keti Bandar and the Indian Gujarat coast in the evening on June 15 while packing winds of between 100 and 120 km/h.

Furthermore, it warned that between June 14 and 17, Sindh’s Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, and Umerkot districts were likely to experience widespread wind, dust, thunderstorms, rain, and some very heavy/extremely heavy falls. Also possible in these areas are squall winds with speeds between 80 and 100 km/h.

Also expected from June 14 to 16 in Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Sanghar districts are dust/thunderstorm-rain with a few heavy falls and squally winds of 60 to 80 km/h.

The forecast indicated that during this time, the Hub and Lasbela districts of Balochistan might also experience dust storms, thunderstorms, and isolated heavy falls.

Karachi could experience heavy rain.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a statement predicting that Karachi will experience heavy rain and wind starting tonight.

The Met office reported that strong rains with a speed of 20 nautical miles were currently occurring in Karachi. It continued, “The city’s wind speed is likely to increase.”
