Shehbaz Sharif: we saved country from default & destruction in short time. On Sunday, Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, addressed the nation in his final address. He claimed that Pakistan’s government significantly contributed to averting a financial crisis.
He mentioned that Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar would succeed him as the new acting prime minister. The opposition leader Raja Riaz and Sharif both approved Kakar’s appointment.
After the resignation of the previous prime minister, Imran Khan, Sharif took office on April 10, 2022. Sharif’s administration resolved political and economic issues in about 16 months. With a $3 billion agreement, Pakistan received assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which prevented further damage.
In his speech on television, Sharif praised Pakistan’s struggles and attributed some of the country’s financial problems to the previous administration, which was led by Imran Khan. He stressed the significance of averting a serious financial crisis that would have had an impact on items like food, medicine, electricity, gas, and fuel.
Sharif claimed that he followed the law when he first came to power and is doing the same thing now that he is stepping down.
Shehbaz Sharif: we saved country from default & destruction in short time. He had faith that Kakar could conduct the upcoming elections fairly and competently. Kakar’s Balochistan heritage pleased Sharif, who believed he would ensure fair elections.
PTI urges caretaker PM to confirm timely elections
Kakar’s job will be to supervise the elections planned for November. But the election date might change to February as the Election Commission needs more time to finish vital tasks before announcing the new election schedule.
