Asad Umar gets interim bail in cipher case. Asad Umar, the former secretary-general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), granted provisional bail on Tuesday by a special court hearing cases under the Official Secrets Act, according to News.
Umar applied for interim bail in the case earlier that day, defying reports that he arrested in connection with the cipher case.
After hearing the opening remarks from Asad Umar’s attorney, Babar Awan, Judge Abu Al-Hasnat Zulqarnain took up the case, and the former minister given provisional bail until August 29.
Asad Umar denied reports of his arrest during his appearance before the special court, adding that he had twice joined the investigation and that the reports of his arrest were untrue.
