ISLAMABAD: The government has offered Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM) the post of Deputy Speaker.
Private News channel reported that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made the offer on the occasion of his visit to MQM’s headquarters in Bahadurabad, during which he also sought cooperation from Muttahida for the speaker’s seat.
Citing sources, it was said that during the meeting, the Prime Minister said that for the development of Sindh, the federation and the province must work together, especially Karachi, the MQM will be involved in every consultative process.
It is hoped that the support of MQM will continue in the election of the Speaker of the National Assembly. It may be recalled that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had reached Bahadurabad, the headquarters of MQM Pakistan in Bahadurabad, yesterday to meet the leadership of MQM Pakistan, where the MQM leadership congratulated Shahbaz Sharif on assuming the office of Prime Minister.
The meeting was attended by MQM Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Senior Deputy Convener Amir Khan, Syed Aminul Haq, Dr. Forough Naseem and Kanwar Naveed Jamil besides Members of National Assembly Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Maryam Aurangzeb, Maulana Asad Mehmood, Ahsan Iqbal and others. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister called for timely completion of important development projects like Karachi Circular Railway and K4 and also announced the establishment of a new university in Karachi.
He appreciated the commitment of all allied parties for the welfare of the people.
Talking on the occasion, Convener MQM Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that nothing was to be decided in today’s meeting as all the issues have already been settled. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif came to thank him. This was a visit of Kher Sagali.
From the establishment of Pakistan, now we have to make a journey to the stability of Pakistan.
