JI declares countrywide protest against petroleum prices. Emir Sirjul Haq of Amat-e-Islami (JUI) called for a nationwide protest against Friday’s enormous increase in gasoline prices on Wednesday.
Haq claimed that by raising the price of gasoline and diesel, the caretaker administration had supported the unjust policies of the departing coalition government.
He referred to it as an injustice to the nation’s poor people and claimed that the country’s leaders were exerting pressure on them in order to appease the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He urged the interim administration to help the people.
