Want to buy unrestricted gas from Iran: Musadik Malik

Federal Minister of Petroleum Musadik Malik says that they want to buy gas from Iran without restrictions like Turkey and Iraq, they are trying to solve the problem of sanctions from Iran.

Speaking at the Pakistan Energy Symposium in Islamabad, Federal Minister of Petroleum Mossadegh Malik said that the priority of the government is the uninterrupted supply of energy at a reasonable price. The government is trying to increase the supply of energy. Challenges are faced, and we have to act to stop climate change.

He says that Pakistan is investing more than 18 billion dollars in energy imports annually, we are accelerating oil and gas exploration in the country, and foreign companies are welcome to invest in the country.

Federal Minister of Petroleum Musadik Malik has said that investment in oil and gas exploration has been made very easy, and information and permits for oil and gas exploration have been digitized.

He said that due to the situation in Afghanistan, the pipeline was delayed, and Central Asian gas can be transferred to LNG in Gwadar and sold worldwide.

Federal Minister of Petroleum Musadik Malik says that the demand for electricity in Pakistan in summer is up to 35 thousand megawatts, in winter the demand for electricity decreases to 10 thousand megawatts.

He says that various proposals are being worked on to reduce the electricity tariff, supply of local gas to efficient power plants will bring down the cost of electricity to Rs 12 per unit.

Federal Minister of Petroleum Musadik Malik has said that if the efficient power plants are run on LNG, then the unit of electricity costs 24 rupees.

He further said that theft and losses in the gas sector are quite high, and gas losses have increased due to the situation in Sui-Southern Balochistan, a modern system is being introduced to prevent gas theft in urban areas.

Federal Minister of Petroleum Musadik Malik also said that the gas network in urban areas will be fully monitored with the help of technology, we have vast resources of renewable energy, and we should take advantage of them.
