Sheikh Hasina Wajid flees, Army takes over Bangladesh

Prime Minister of Bangladesh Hasina Wajid fled the country after a month of public protests, the army announced the formation of an interim government as soon as it took over.

Bangladesh President Muhammad Shahabuddin dissolved the parliament.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tariq Rehman asked the people to remain calm in the context of the ongoing situation in the country.
