Former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on Monday confirmed his contact with former DG ISI Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed. But categorically denied any wrongdoing, May 9 incidents, or any connection with PTI.
I swear I have nothing to do with PTI and its politics on May 9, Saqib Nisar said while talking to The News from abroad (where he is on holiday). He said that generally what is being said against him and the allegations being leveled are all ‘absolute nonsense’.
‘I have nothing to do with any matter of General Faiz.’ But he clarified that he has social contact with General Faiz.’
He explained that he had attended the wedding ceremony of General Faiz’s daughter and had been exchanging good wishes and pleasantries as usual on various occasions.
The former Chief Justice said that General Faiz took great care during his and his family’s last visit to the Northern Regions.
He said that when he was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, General Faiz used to meet his registrar and occasionally send ‘For Eyes Only’ messages.
Saqib Nisar clarified that General Faiz never asked him for anything unfair or illegal.
He said that he always respected me and was kind to me, but Saqib Nisar categorically denied that he had planted May 9, PTI politics or on behalf of certain elements and social media. are in any way implicated in the charges.
Saqib Nisar said that I do not need to worry, I am returning to Pakistan on September 5.
The retired justice recalled that last year when Aitzaz Ahsan was facing difficulties in reaching his home due to the situation around Zaman Park Lahore, he used to come to my office.
He said that apart from Aitzaz, sometimes Khawaja Tariq Rahim also used to come to my office but these connections were purely social.
A report published in The News on Monday said that the former DG Lt Gen (Rtd) Faiz Hameed and the former Chief Justice of Pakistan who were in ISI custody were in touch with each other.
Informed sources said that the investigation by the authorities has confirmed the contact between the two, but it was not clarified what the nature of the contact was. Were they merely social contacts or did they have some political or criminal aspects?
