LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has withdrawn her request to hand over her passport for Umrah.
According to details, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif has withdrawn her application for return of her passport on personal grounds, after which a fourth bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi was constituted to hear the application.
The bench dismissed the petition. It may be mentioned that PML-N Central Vice President Maryam Nawaz had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court to go abroad, in which it was stated that in 2019, NAB had arrested Chaudhry in the Sugar Mills case later has accepted bail but she has surrendered her passport on a court order.
Now I want to go to London to take care of my sick father Nawaz Sharif. I also want to go to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah but not cannot go abroad because I do not have a passport.
Therefore, the Lahore High Court should order the return of my passport.
However, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz apologized for the hearing of another judge on the request for return of her passport.
Justice Asjad Javed Gharal of Lahore High Court also apologized for the hearing.
Once the bench was dissolved, first the bench comprising Justice Shahbaz Rizvi apologized for the hearing, second time Justice Farooq Haider and third time Justice Asjad Javed Gharal apologized.
It is to be noted that when the hearing on Maryam Nawaz’s application for return of passport started in the Lahore High Court, Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court apologized for the hearing on personal grounds and the court sent the file to Chief Justice Lahore High Court Amir Bhatti.
The court note said that the Chief Justice should appoint another bench for hearing the petition.
Yesterday, a two-member bench comprising Justice Ali Baqir Najafi and Justice Farooq Haider heard Maryam Nawaz’s request for return of her passport.
On the occasion, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi remarked that despite the pending 2019 miscellaneous petition, how can this miscellaneous petition be heard? What is the appeal against the bail decision?
On this, the NAB counsel told the court that NAB has challenged the bail of Maryam Nawaz, the appeal against the decision of NAB High Court is pending, on which Justice Ali Baqir Najafi said that you have appealed against the bail.
Don’t even want a hearing? On this, the NAB lawyer said that we want but the petition has not been fixed for hearing yet.
During the hearing, the lawyer of PML-N Vice President Ahsan Bhoon said that the application of Maryam Nawaz before this court is only to the extent of return of passport.
Want to go for Umrah, it is a good deed. On this, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi said that do good deeds and throw them in the river.
The court laughed at these remarks of the judge. He said that the rules of ECL should be presented by the lawyers of the federal government. Besides, a notice was also issued to NAB.
