Hamza Shahbaz is No Longer Chief Minister of Punjab

The Lahore High Court has accepted the petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against the election of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.

A five-member bench headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan heard the appeals of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The larger bench also includes Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry, Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Shahid Jamil Khan.

The larger bench has pronounced the verdict by a majority of four to one.

One judge, Justice Sajid Mahmood Sethi, disagreed with some points of the four-judge verdict.

Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi in his dissenting note while praising the media reporting has demanded that the media did professional reporting, some Vloggers scandalized the case, PEMRA and FIA should take action against the perpetrators.

The appeals of PTI, PML-Q and Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi were heard in the larger bench.

Appeals were filed in the Supreme Court against the election of Hamza Shahbaz as the Chief Minister of Punjab and the decisions of the single bench.

The court in its written judgment said that no new election can be ordered, re-election order will be against the decision of the Supreme Court.

The Lahore High Court has said in its judgment that we cannot even ask for revocation of the notification of the Presiding Officer, the court cannot play the role of Presiding Officer.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the votes should be recounted excluding 25 votes of the dissident members, whichever has a majority in the referendum will win.

The Lahore High Court has said in its judgment that if one does not get the required majority, there will be a second poll under Article 1304.

The apex court in its judgment said that Hamza Shahbaz will not remain in the post of Chief Minister of Punjab if he does not get a majority after excluding 25 votes.

The court has directed that the meeting of the Governor of Punjab convened on July 1 should be ensured.

The meeting of the Punjab Assembly will not be adjourned till the election is held.
