England Vs India – Test Series Level by 2-2

England improved their record of scoring the most score in Test cricket thanks to the brilliant batting of former captain Jorot and Johnny Bairstow, tying the series 2-2 against India.

Hosts England had a record target of 378 for victory in the fifth and final Test of the series in Birmingham, while England had earlier set a target of 359 in the Ashes series against Australia in 2019 thanks to a brilliant century by Ben Stokes.

England started chasing a big target on the fourth day of the match, then the openers pair Alex Hales and Zack Crowley gave a great start of 107 runs.

Immediately after Crowley was dismissed for 46, new batsman Oli Pope fell to zero, but Alex Hales scored 56 and returned to the pavilion with a total of 109.

After the first three batsmen were dismissed, former captains Joe Root and Johnny Bairstow took the crease and gave the team a memorable victory.

Both batsmen scored centuries and put on an unbeaten 269-run stand to level series by 2-2 with a seven-wicket win.

Earlier, India scored 416 in the first innings thanks to 146 runs by Rishabh Pont and 104 runs by Ravindra Jadeja, including the worst over in the history of Test cricket by Stuart Broad of England.

England scored 284 in reply to India’s first innings score, which included Johnny Bairstow’s 106, but India could not fully defend the hosts’ bowlers, including Ben Stokes, in the second innings.

India were bowled out for 245 in their second innings, while Stokes took four wickets, after which England had a target of 378 for victory, which they easily achieved on the fifth day at a loss of just three wickets.

Bairstow of England was named Man of the Match and Jorot was named Man of the Series.
