The first season of the web series ‘Ms Marvel’ based on the first Pakistani superhero girl ‘Kamala Khan’ has come to an end.
The first episode of the first season of ‘Ms Marvel’ was released on June 8 last month on the worldwide streaming website ‘Disney Plus’, however, the service of the said website is not available in Pakistan due to which the fans were deprived of watching it.
The last episode of the web series, was released on Disney Plus on July 13, after which Ms Marvel will be released in cinemas in Pakistan by the end of this month.
In the 6th episode of ‘Ms Marvel’, Kamala Khan was shown returning home from the US state of New Jersey after a visit to Pakistan and at the same time she was shown telling her parents that she has special abilities.
In the last episode of the first season, it was hinted that the second season of the web series will also come, in which Ms Marvel i.e. Kamala Khan will be seen showing her special skills.
In all the episodes of the first season, Kamala Khan did not show so much skill but he was shown understanding the history of his ancestors i.e. Pakistan.
The last 3 episodes of the first season also showed the story of the partition of the subcontinent, while the web series also showed the historical and famous buildings of Karachi, the capital of Sindh province.
In the last episodes, Kamala Khan was also shown touring Karachi and some of the scenes in the web series were real while most of the scenes in Karachi were artificially created in the studio.
Ms Marvel also showed the Sindhi wedding tradition of ‘lanion’, in which the heads of the bride and groom are struck, this ritual is performed in front of all the guests after the marriage and before the departure and people would be happy to see it.
In ‘Ms Marvel’, Mehwish Hayat and Fawad Khan played the roles of Kamala Khan’s grandfather and grand mother while senior actress Samina Ahmed was his grandmother.
The web series also features Pakistani actress Nimrah Bucha and Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar, as well as other Pakistani and Indian-born British, American and Canadian actors were also the part of series.
All episodes of the first season of ‘Ms Marvel’ were directed by Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and 3 other directors Meira Menon and Belgian-American Muslim filmmakers Adil al-Arabi and Bilal Falah.
