Luxury Car stolen from London, recovered from DHA Karachi

In a theft case, violation of tax laws and illegal registration of a luxury car. Customs officials raided a house of the Defense Housing Authority. They seize a Bentley Mulsanne car. It is allegedly steel from London and registered with the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department.

According to the reports, foreign spies trace the location of the car. They inform the customs officials who detain 2 persons from DHA’s house and file an FIR against them.

The Excise Department is accuses of ‘facilitating’ tax evasion of over Rs 30 crore. Provincial government register the luxury vehicle.

At the time of importation of the car its value declares Rs. 4 crore 14 lac. Without the permission of the Ministry of External Affairs and the NOC issued by the customs

FIR register against the arrested Jameel Shafi, Naveed Balwani, an unknown facilitator of the Sindh Excise & Taxation Department and others. The Customs Enforcement Office Collectorate receive ‘reliable’ information from intelligence agency. Bentley car steel from London is suspected to be parked at a house (15-B South, 10th Street) in DHA, Karachi.

In this regard, the customs authorities review the cases and after fulfilling the legal requirements, raided the house. They along with the female officer and trace the vehicle park there.

The authorities ask the ‘owner’ Jameel Shafi to provide the legal documents of the vehicle. He tells, a person name Naveed Balwani sell him this car. The terms of the agreement was that it would deliver by November 2022.

Naveed Balwani asked to produce the legal documents of the vehicle, Naveed Balwani expresses his ‘failure’ to provide the required documents. He fails to give a ‘satisfactory answer’.

Naveed Balwani tells the customs that he only helps to arrange a deal between Jameel Shafi and another person Naveed Yameen. Naveed Yameen receives payment from Jameel Shafi for the vehicle.

According to FIR, vehicle checks on the website of the Motor Registration Excise and Taxation Department of the Government of Sindh. It was revealed that the vehicle is already registered in the Motor Registration Excise and Taxation Department which is illegal.

The FIR states that the suspicious registration of the vehicle indicates the collusion of the staff of the Motor Registration Excise and Taxation Department.

The customs department name Naveed Yameen and an unidentified official of the excise department in the case registered under relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969.

Customs authorities believe that the named persons kept the said vehicle ‘illegally’ and defrauded Rs. 30 Crore 74 Lakh 27 Thousand 997.
