Former umpire Asad Rauf passed away due to cardiac arrest

Elite panel umpire of Pakistan and International Cricket Council (ICC) Asad Rauf died of cardiac arrest in Lahore.

Asad Rauf, who represents Pakistan in 64 Tests, 139 ODIs and 28 T20 International matches. He is one of the most famous umpires of Pakistan. He along with Aleem Dar earns a lot of fame in the world of umpiring.

Asad Rauf first win the honor of umpiring in 2000. After which he include in the ODI panel in 2004. After hosting the first Test in 2005, he become part of the elite panel the following year.

Asad Rauf, known for his unbiased decisions along with Aleem Dar. Which make Pakistan famous in the world of umpiring. But a scandal in 2012 and 2013 tarnish his career and led to his demise.

He resigned from his duties in the Champions Trophy held in England, after which he was also removed from the ICC’s elite panel, but the ICC clarified that he was not removed from the panel on the basis of a corruption scandal.

Later in 2016, the BCCI banned Asad Rauf for five years for corruption and misconduct.

A few months ago, he gave an interview to a YouTube channel in which it was revealed that the former umpire is currently running a clothes shop in Landa Bazar, Lahore.

In this interview, he talked about various issues including his career and the corruption scandals.
