Ahsan Iqbal: Govt committed to hold next elections on time. Ahsan Iqbal, the minister of planning and development, stated on Friday that the government committed to holding the upcoming elections on schedule.
Speaking to a private television channel, he stated that the assemblies’ terms would end in the middle of August and that the upcoming elections would take place in October or November of this year.
In response to a query about holding elections using fresh data from the census, he said that the ECP will likely hold elections using data from 2017.
He added that the prime minister had promised to hold the following elections as soon as possible, claiming that holding elections in October with fresh census data is impossible.
