American actor and comedian Richard Lewis died of a heart attack at the age of 76.
According to foreign media, Richard Lewis died at his home in the American city of Los Angeles.
The actor also worked for many films and TV during his career.
People connected with the industry have expressed grief over his death.
Last April, Lewis revealed on social media that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and had undergone multiple surgeries over the past three years for other issues. “I’ve had kind of a rocky time,” he said, adding that he will undergo back surgery, shoulder surgery, shoulder replacement surgery, and hip replacement surgery.
“I had four surgeries, back to back. It was unbelievable… it was unfortunate, but that’s life,” he then shared.
In his final interview, published Feb. 18 on Vanity Fair, the actor said he decided to open up about his health struggles because “I couldn’t be in the closet with this.”

“I thought, for what it’s worth, I’m an addict and a recovering alcoholic for about 30 years. It helped some people,” he said. “Maybe I can go public on it and they’ll say, ‘Gee, I didn’t know Lewis had that!’ And maybe that will give them some motivation.”
