The Silver Jubilee of America’s Largest Annual Houston Iftar Dinner was held at the Bayou City Event Center.
Thousands of people attended the 25th annual Houston Iftar Dinner, and the hall was nearly empty. Hundreds of people missed out due to not registering online in time to attend the Iftar dinner.
The 25th annual iftar dinner organized by the Houston Muslim Sister City Associations and 32 community organizations was attended by congressmen Sheila Jackson Lee, L. Green and consul general of Pakistan Aftab Chaudhry and diplomats from several countries including Ismail Council Houston President Faisal Momin. Besides, high government officials and elders of the Muslim community also participated in large numbers.

On this occasion, the newly elected mayor Witt Mayer while talking to the media said that I feel the pain of the people of Gaza, but my priority is the affairs of Houston, I do not want to involve myself in world affairs.
Speaking at the Iftar dinner, Congressman Al Green called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urged for the immediate recognition of Palestine as an independent state.
Iftar dinner coordinator Saeed Shaikh while talking to the media paid tribute to the management committee, partner organizations and especially the Ismaili Council and its volunteers for their appreciable support in organizing the Iftar dinner.
He expressed his gratitude to Javed Anwar for his valuable cooperation in organizing Iftar this year like every year. On this occasion, members of the community lined up to take pictures with Mayor Houston and members of Congress.
