ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has taken a major decision regarding the by-elections.
Pak Army and Rangers will be deployed in 7 constituencies of Punjab.
The Interior Ministry has directed the deployment of Army and Rangers in Rawalpindi, Khushab, Bhakkar and Faisalabad.
Pak Army and Rangers troops will also be deployed in Sheikhupura and Jhang.
The Interior Ministry also issued a notification in this regard.
Media reports quoted sources as saying that the Election Commission had written a letter to the Interior Ministry to provide security in seven constituencies.
The decision to deploy Pakistan Army in the by-elections has been taken under Article 220.
It should be noted that by-polls will be held on July 17 in 20 constituencies of Punjab. PTI and PML-N are expected to face off.
For days now, the parties have been eyeing the crown of Punjab’s rule.
While both the parties are claiming that they will win the elections with a clear majority, but who will win, whose weight is heavier will be known on July 17.
It may be recalled that ballot papers and forms have been sent to the returning officers for the by-elections to be held in 20 constituencies of Punjab.
Sources as saying that the Election Commission has printed 4,730,600 ballot papers for 20 constituencies, while 153,657 additional ballot papers have also been printed.
The Election Commission has summoned the authorized representatives of the ROs to collect the ballot papers.
It was informed that all the ballot papers were printed in Islamabad and all the ballot papers would be delivered to the concerned constituencies under tight security.
