Lahore: In the first ODI of the three-match series, Australia defeated Pakistan by 88 runs in the first ODI. In the first ODI of the series being played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited Australia to bat first. When the Kangaroos started their batting, Australian captain Aaron Finch scored 23 runs and got out on the ball of Zahid Mahmood while Travis Head scored a century and caught the ball of Iftikhar Ahmed. Ben McDermott scored 55 off 70 balls, Marinus Labushin was dismissed for 25 off 35 balls, Alex Carey was run by Zahid Mahmood, Marcus Stevens scored 26 runs and Sean Abbott scored 14 runs and fell victim to Harris Rauf. Australia scored 313 for 7 in the allotted 50 overs and Pakistan set a target of 314 for victory. Haris Rauf and Zahid Mahmood of the national team took 2 wickets each while Iftikhar Ahmed and Khush Dil Shah took one wicket each. Opener Fakhr Zaman was caught for 18 runs. Imam-ul-Haq had to return to the pavilion after scoring 103 runs off 96 balls. Mohammad Rizwan was caught for 10 and Iftikhar Ahmed for 2 runs. The Australian team, which has 19 problems with Injury and Kovid, has debuted Nathan Ellis and Mitchell Swapson in the match. Pakistan does not have the services of sniper Shadab Khan in the match and in his place Zahid Mahmood as well as Muhammad Wasim Jr. has been debuted. It is to be noted that earlier a series of three Test matches was played between the two teams in which Australia had won 0-1.
