The Islamabad Police issued a clarification on the ‘viral video’ linking the presence of police outside the house of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Bani Gala with his alleged arrest plans.
The federal capital police said in a tweet that police security was deployed outside PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s house yesterday due to protests by Punjab teachers.
Footage shared on social media showed police mobiles and personnel present in Bani Gala while the roads to and from Bani Gala were blocked.
Referring to the footage, Islamabad Police said in a tweet that ‘Police security was deployed yesterday due to the protest of Punjab teachers, all the protesters were dispersed last evening, today there is no such activity around Bani Gala House.
Police said that wrong information is being spread among citizens through the video, citizens are requested to avoid spreading such information without verification.
The police also requested the provincial governments to resolve such cases at the provincial level.
On Tuesday, the Teachers and Clerks Associations had threatened to protest outside Imran’s residence on August 11 against the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority.
The protesters carried play cards, shouted slogans against the Punjab government, and demanded the withdrawal of the decision to appoint a new chief executive officer.
During the protest, the leaders said that if their demands were not met, the teachers and clerks would continue their sit-in in front of the Chief Executive Officer’s office, and after Ashura, all the teachers and employees of Rawalpindi district would protest at Banigala.
