‘Blue ticks’ removed from famous celebrities Twitter Account

The social media website Twitter continues to remove ‘blue ticks’ from the accounts of important personalities.

Former Prime Minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and former captain Shahid Afridi have had their ‘blue tick’ removed from their accounts.

Reasons for removing ‘blue ticks’

The reason behind the removal of the ‘blue tick’ from verified accounts is Elon Musk’s subscription fee. Last month, Twitter also announced that it would start removing the ‘blue tick’ from verified accounts from April 1.

Late last year, Twitter introduced its subscription service Twitter Blue across the world, including in Pakistan. Where users were told to maintain and receive blue ticks on their Twitter account for a monthly fee.

In Pakistan, the subscription fee of Twitter Blue has been fixed at 2250 rupees per month. While in other countries of the world it is between 8 and 11 dollars.
