Thousands of spiritual gatherings were held in all major and minor cities of the country, including Islamabad and the four provincial capitals of Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar, to offer Eid prayers.
The day began with special prayers in the mosques for the betterment of the Muslim Ummah, development, prosperity and security of the country and the scholars highlighted the importance of the philosophy of great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ishmael in their Eid sermons.
After the Eid prayers, the citizens are performing the duty of sacrificing animals following the Sunnah of Ibrahimi.
However, due to the rains across the country, people are facing severe difficulties in offering Eid prayers and sacrificing animals.
Eid prayers were offered inside mosques, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, due to flooding of Eid venues.
In view of the rains, district administrations across the country have also taken special measures to destroy and clean up the remains of sacrificial animals.
