Back in April, Korean Pop girl group Blackpink made history as the first Korean Pop band to headline Coachella. Which is one of the biggest global annual music and arts festival. This festival was held in California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. Presently, the band has managed to win the coveted Group of the Year award at the VMAs. Thus making history as the first girl group of this century to win this title.

A 24-year-old record was broken by Blackpink. They became the 2nd female group in VMA history to win the ‘Group of the Year’ award. The 1st one was TLC, which received the award back in 1999.

The Blackpink members did not attend the event. But thousands of Blinks (Blackpink fans) took to social media to celebrate the win. They congratulate their beloved idols on winning the ‘Best Group’ at the VMAs award. Blackpink was one of the top trends on X (formerly Twitter) after this win.

The award show took place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. Nicki Minaj hosted the event for the second year in a row.
Blackpink also managed to win the MTV Video Music Award for ‘Best Choreography’. This award was for their song Pink Venom.
The song was also nominated for three other categories – ‘Best K-pop’, ‘Best Editing’, and ‘Best Art Direction’ awards.
