Govt. decides to appoint Asim Munir as a next Army Chief. Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb tweets that Lieutenant General Asim Munir will be the new Army Chief.
She says that Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad will be the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
In her tweet, Maryam Aurangzeb writes that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has decided to appoint Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of the Army Staff using the constitutional authority.
In her statement on social media, she also states that a summary in this regard forward to the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi.

Services of Lieutenant General Asim Munir in the Army
Lt Gen Asim Munir joined Pakistan Army from Mangala Officers Training School Programme.
He commissioned in the Frontier Force Regiment, commanding the Northern Territories Force as a Brigadier.
He appointed DG Military Intelligence in early 2017, he appoint DG ISI in October 2018.
Asim Munir was also Corps Commander Gujranwala for 2 years while currently posted as Quartermaster General in GHQ. He will be the first Army Chief who has served in Military Intelligence and ISI.
He is the first Army Chief to be awarded the Sword of Honour.
Asim Munir memorize the Holy Quran at the age of 38 while posted as a lieutenant colonel in Medina.
