There has been high-level liaison between a key govt figure and PTI for any possible breakthrough.
An informed source told The News on Monday that initial contact was positive. This correspondent has the names of contact persons on behalf of both parties, but the information was provided to The News on the condition that the names remain confidential.
It is said that the disclosure of these names at this time may frustrate efforts to amicably settle matters between the PTI and the government (especially the establishment).
According to sources, this key figure in the government will take the powerful quarters into confidence. If things progress positively, the PTI may withdraw the call for the November 24 protest march in return for some assurances to fulfill its demands. is
It is said that the meeting of the Apex Committee on Tuesday could prove crucial in determining whether the two sides will negotiate or whether the tension will continue. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has already told The News that he will raise the ongoing tension between Imran Khan, PTI, and the party and the military establishment in the Apex Committee.
The Prime Minister chairs the meeting of the Apex Committee, which consists of the country’s top civil and military leadership.
Therefore, Gandapur will have an opportunity to directly discuss the grudges between the PTI and the establishment in front of the top military leadership, including Army Chief General Asim Munir and all intelligence chiefs.
It is said that if the two sides decide to negotiate, the talks will be between the PTI and the government. The military establishment may not be part of the talks, but government negotiators on PTI-related matters will need the approval of the military establishment before agreeing on anything.
According to a source, whatever PTI leaders say in public, it should be remembered that their demands will not be met immediately in case of talks. Starting the negotiation process now could be a breakthrough.
The initiation of the dialogue process, it is said, may convince the PTI to withdraw its protest march to Islamabad on November 24. The party has announced that there will be a sit-in until the demands are approved. Tehreek-e-Insaaf claims that it will make a big show in Islamabad.
The party is tired of the difficulties and political consequences of confrontation with the military establishment. There is also a debate within Tehreek-e-Insaaf that it should stop targeting the institution and its top leadership as this move has benefited in the past and will not benefit in the future.
