ICC crowns Babar Azam best Player of the month

National team captain Babar Azam has been named as best player of the month March by the ICC.

Babar Azam won the award against Australia by batting well in various formats.

Babar Azam scored a total of 390 runs in the Test series, along with a crucial 196-run innings in the second Test against Australia.

After the Test series, Babar continued his impressive form in the ODI series and he played a pivotal role in the series victory against Australia by scoring two centuries.

The national team captain competed for the award against West Indies’ Craig Braithwaite and his Australian counterpart Pat Cummins.

Babar Azam is the first player to win the ICC Player of the Year award, having previously won the award in April 2021.

Commenting on Babar Azam’s excellent performance, Darren Ganga, a member of the voting panel, said that Babar had scored a lot of runs in the series between Pakistan and Australia as well as played well in all formats.

He said that the captain of Pakistan carried the burden of leadership and made the tour of Australia after 24 years a memorable one.

In the women’s event, Australian opener Rachel Heinz was named the best player of the month of March.

Rachel Heinz scored 429 runs in eight matches of the Women’s World Cup and played a key role in making her team champions for the seventh time.
