The District Sessions Court of Islamabad granted bail to former Prime Minister Imran Khan in 10 cases related to vandalism during the long march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Islamabad Sessions Judge Kamran Bisharat Mufti heard the pre-arrest bail application where PTI Chairman Imran Khan appeared along with his lawyers Babra Awan and Shahbaz Gul.
Before the appearance of Imran Khan in the court, the investigating officers presented the records of the cases registered against him and the judge directed the officers to leave after presenting the records.
Imran Khan had filed an application for bail in 11 cases registered against him.
During the hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Babarawan said that 15 cases of the same nature are registered against this client, requesting that Imran Khan’s bail be granted.
The judge asked the prosecutor whether you have any objection, whether there is any organization as plaintiff in this case.
After the hearing, the court approved the bail of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in exchange of five bonds of Rs. 5,000.
The court granted interim bail to Imran Khan till the first week of September in another case of treason filed in Kohsar police station.
In the next hearing scheduled on September 8, the court summoned the police record in the case number 425 registered in the Kohsar police station.
It should be noted that on the occasion of the long march towards Islamabad on May 25, cases were registered in different police stations against various leaders of PTI, including Imran Khan, on the incidents of vandalism in the federal capital Islamabad.
The first case against Imran Khan was registered on May 26 at Kohsar police station in Islamabad, after which a total of 15 cases were registered against Imran Khan, including 10 cases in West police stations and 5 cases in East police stations.
A total of 14 FIRs were registered against Imran Khan for interference in government, damage to government property.
It may be recalled that Section 144 was in force in the capital and the PTI rally participants gathered in the capital were enraged after which they pelted stones at the police and damaged government and private vehicles.
In this regard, it was said in the cases filed that while stopping the rally led by the PTI leader, they were informed about the implementation of Section 144, however, on the orders of Imran Khan, the party leaders Raja Khurram Nawaz and Ali Nawaz Awan Incited the participants of rally, as a result of which they resisted the police and pelted stones at them.
According to the police, 3 cases were registered against PTI leaders in Kohsar police station, 2 each in Bhara Kahu and Golra and one each in Abpara, Tarnool, Karachi Company, Koral, Loi Bhir, Margalla, Secretariat and Sahala police stations.
