Imran Riaz Khan in CIA custody

A team of Lahore Police has arrested anchor person Imran Riaz Khan from Chakwal and handed him over to the City Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) in a case registered at the Civil Lines Police Station.

According to Media, the case was registered by Muhammad Asif, a resident of Faiz Bagh area of ​​Lahore, on charges of inciting mutiny and criticizing state institutions.

The journalist, who was detained by Attock police near Islamabad on Tuesday night, was granted relief by a local court on Thursday morning, but a team of Chakwal police arrested him from outside the courtroom.

Prior to his transfer to Lahore, a local court in Chakwal District had granted him judicial remand.

In the latest FIR against Imran Riaz Khan, the complainant alleged that he was browsing the internet when he saw a video clip of a journalist criticizing the Pakistani army.

Mohammad Asif alleged that Imran Riaz had accused the army of violating human rights and harming the state by engaging in politics.

The complainant alleged that Imran Riaz had said that the army had put Pakistan’s integrity at stake, adding that the journalist had committed the crime of inciting army officers and other personnel.

The complainant said that Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman had recently awarded the King Abdul Aziz Medal to Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa for his important role in defense cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Mohammad Asif alleged in the FIR that the journalist in his video also mocked the decision of the Saudi government that General Bajwa had gone to Riyadh to seek financial support for the current government in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, police handed over the journalist to CIA Kotwali police for questioning, an official said, adding that he is likely to be produced before a duty magistrate today.

On the other hand, Imran Riaz Khan’s lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq alleged that the police tried their best to move his client to an unknown location but his friends and brothers thwarted the attempt. He has been named in more than 20 criminal cases in various police stations across the country.
