A few days after the May 9 violent protests that broke out in several cities across the nation as a result of the arrest of the PTI chief in a corruption case, the television host was arrested in Sialkot.
On May 12, the journalist was allowed to leave the local jail, and he did so in a private vehicle. On May 15, a representative also informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) that the anchorperson had been released from custody after providing a written undertaking.

Despite being let out of the county jail on May 12, he has been missing ever since. The Lahore High Court (LHC) was also the recipient of a petition calling for his return.
The IHC judge gave the Punjab police “one last opportunity” to find Riaz by September 26 following multiple court orders for the journalist’s appearance in court.

Ali Ashfaq, Imran Riaz Khan’s attorney, also expressed his gratitude for his release. “I have again brought my prince back,” said the woman, “by God’s special blessing, grace, and mercy.”
He claimed that because of a weak judicial system and legal gaps the release took a long time.
