At least 112 women were admitted to hospital for medical treatment after a gas leak at a garment manufacturing plant in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the report of the foreign news agency ‘AFP’, the police said that on Tuesday night, two workers working in a plant in Achivathapuram district of the southern state of Andhra Pradesh complained of nausea and vomiting.
Senior police official M Upendra said regarding the details of the incident that the condition of all the women affected by the gas leakage is good, no worker has been reported killed in the incident while the investigation related to the gas leakage is under process.
According to the report of the Indian broadcasting organization ‘NDTV’ in the month of June, in another similar incident in the same area, about 200 women fainted and were admitted to the hospital for medical assistance.
In 2020, a gas leak at a chemical plant in the industrial port city of Visakhapatnam in the same state killed at least 5 people while hundreds were hospitalized for medical attention.
In 1984, the worst industrial accident in Indian history occurred when gas leaked from a pesticide plant in the central Indian city of Bhopal.
About 3,500 people living around the plant operated by Union Carbide died due to the toxic gas leakage, and people are still facing the adverse health effects of this deadly gas leakage.
