International institutions announce $500 million aid for flood victims

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif meets with international partners. Following his decision to spearhead relief operations in the face of widespread flooding across the country.

They promise to provide $50 crore to help Pakistan mitigate the effects of the monsoon rains.

According to sources, after returning from a two-day visit to Qatar, the Prime Minister cancel his visit to London. He will visit his granddaughter who admits in a hospital of British capital.

International organizations and financial institutions announce an immediate aid of more than 500 million dollars for the flood victims.

Representatives from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, international financial institutions, development partners and donors including China, the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) participated in the meeting.

The Prime Minister informs the international partners about the devastation cause by floods across the country.

He says that due to the worst floods, the country has to face a state of emergency. Because of flood hundreds of people lost their lives.

He states that the disaster caused by the flood is more serious than the flood of 2010.

The government releases 5 billion rupees for relief. And financial assistance of 1 million rupees to the families of the deceased.

He said that 25 thousand rupees were immediately given to each flood affected family and 80 billion rupees allocate for this purpose.

The PM urges international institutions and other countries to cooperate with the Government of Pakistan on an emergency basis.

He says that the government establishes the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund 2022 to speed up the relief activities.

The Prime Minister also appreciates the army, government agencies, public service departments, doctors, nurses and volunteers for working with passion under difficult conditions.

He says that “we want the help of international partners, we need essential goods and medical personnel to overcome the difficult situation”.

PM invites the international partners to visit the flood-affected areas and assures the government of arrangements for their visit.
