Iran has confirmed that it took an American oil tanker hostage in the Arabian Sea.
According to Iran’s semi-official media, the Iranian Navy confirmed the seizure of the American oil tanker Saint Nicholas in the Arabian Sea on Thursday.
According to the Tasnim News Agency, Tehran seized an oil tanker loaded with crude oil in the Gulf of Oman according to a court order. It also announced that the Iranian Navy had seized an oil tanker off the coast of Oman.

Meanwhile, the Greek company ‘Empire Navigation’ has reported that the ‘hijacked’ tanker Saint Nicholas was chartered by the Turkish company ‘Topras’.
The tanker was carrying about 145,000 metric tons of crude oil, which was sent from the Iraqi port of Basra to the Turkish city of Aliga through the Suez Canal.
Earlier, two British maritime security agencies, UKMTO and EMBRI, reported on Thursday that gunmen boarded a ship in the Gulf of Oman, which has since lost contact with it.
