Journalist Imran Riaz Khan was arrested on his way to Islamabad in a mutiny case registered in Attock.
Imran Riaz Khan’s lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq has confirmed his arrest and said that Imran Riaz has been arrested in the Attock mutiny case.
He said that Imran Riaz was coming to Islamabad and he has been arrested from the borders of Islamabad. He is filing a contempt of court petition against the police.
Mian Ali Ashfaq said that 17 mutiny cases have been registered against Imran Riaz Khan across Punjab.
Islamabad High Court summons competent officer to court at 10 am On the other hand, a contempt of court petition filed in the Islamabad High Court on the arrest of Imran Riaz Khan was sent to the Chief Justice.
Will there be an immediate hearing on the contempt petition or not? The decision in this regard will be taken by the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.
The jurisdiction branch of the Islamabad High Court referred the Imran Riaz contempt case to Chief Justice Athar Minallah.
The petition filed by Imran Riaz Khan’s lawyers has taken a stand that IG Punjab, IG Islamabad and DC Islamabad have committed contempt of court.
The Islamabad High Court should summon the contempt officers and take action.
The petition seeks an immediate release of Imran Riaz Khan from the Islamabad High Court.
IG Islamabad, IG Punjab and DC Islamabad have been made parties in the petition.
The petition said that the Islamabad High Court had stopped the arrest without the permission of the court, despite the clear orders of the High Court he was arrested.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has asked the IG Islamabad to explain why the court order was violated.
These orders were issued by the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Athar Minallah.
The Assistant Registrar, Islamabad High Court, Asad Khan, numbered the petition.
Further hearing on Imran Riaz Khan’s request will be held at 10 am.
Punjab Law Minister Malik Ahmad Khan said that Imran Riaz Khan has been arrested from Attock District, Rawalpindi Division.
He said that cases have been registered against Imran Riaz Khan in Punjab. He has been arrested from within the limits of Punjab. The impression that arrest has been made from Islamabad is wrong.
On the other hand, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry along with Shahbaz Gul while talking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court said that there would be nationwide protests tomorrow to show solidarity with Imran Riaz.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Asad Umar condemned the arrest of Imran Riaz Khan and said that the expression of opinion is answered with argument and not with arrest.
It may be recalled that last week, one case was registered against TV anchor and villager Imran Riaz Khan in Gojra, one in Muzaffargarh and two in Jhang on the complaints of four different citizens for speaking against state institutions.
