Over 5 lac registered voters in NA 245 are exercising their democratic and constitutional right to vote today amid political heat and intense efforts by political parties to garner support.
According to sources, the polling process starts at 8 am and will continue uninterrupted till 5 pm.
There is low turnout at the start of voting.
According to media news, by-election for the seat vacated after the death of Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain in June to be held on July 27. But due to heavy rains in the city postpone by the ECP.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain secured 56 thousand 673 votes and defeated Dr. Farooq Sattar of MQM Pakistan who secured 35 thousand 429 votes.
Senior PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry urged voters to come out of their homes and exercise their right to vote.
The former federal minister said that today Karachi will stand with the truth, it will stand for democracy and real freedom.
On the other hand, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja says in an ongoing statement. We will not tolerate violence and interference.
He urges citizens to vote at polling stations without fear.
Sikandar Sultan Raja further says, we will take immediate action against those who violate the law.
Along with this, the Election Commission also posts a video on Twitter showing its election control room with officers present. While in background various TV screens can be seen.
