Kashmiris observe India’s Independence Day as Black Day

Kashmiris observe India’s Independence Day as Black Day. Today (Tuesday) is Indian Independence Day, and Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world will observe it as Black Day in protest of New Delhi’s illegal and forcible occupation of their homeland.

Kashmiris observe all national holidays in India, including Independence Day, as a black day to protest India’s ongoing denial of Kashmiris’ birthright to self-determination and to inform the outside world of India’s worst state terrorism policies, which have left the residents of the occupied Jammu and Kashmir state besieged and held at gunpoint by Indian and Paramilitary troops.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called for a complete shutdown of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on this day, and it has the support of all Hurriyat leaders and organizations.

While protests organized against the egregious human rights violations committed by Indian troops in the territory, black flags flown everywhere.

Global anti-India protests held by Kashmiris to call attention to Indian atrocities committed in the occupied territory.

However, the occupation authorities have turned Srinagar and the Kashmir Valley into a military garrison.

The area covered by a multi-layer security setup that includes both ground and aerial surveillance.

The official event held at the Bakhshi Stadium in Srinagar, which fortified with the deployment of paramilitary forces, new bunkers, and barricades.

While this was going on, the occupied residents of Jammu and Kashmir celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day with great fervor and devotion despite the restrictions.

At various locations throughout the Kashmir Valley, young people gathered in small groups and chanted pro-Pakistan slogans. In some places, residents have even flown Pakistani flags from their homes.

The Kashmiris lit firecrackers as the clock struck midnight to celebrate Pakistan’s independence without being afraid.

Abdullah was speaking at an event in Srinagar.
