Charles III reveals future his plans and intentions to serve the nation as Britain’s new monarch in a historic speech after becoming king following the Queen’s death in September.
King Charles, in his address to the nation, dismisses rumors about the future of the monarchy, confirming that he would serve his people for the rest of his life.
The 73-year-old also hints at his eldest son Prince William will succeed him as king.
Charles says: “As the Queen herself did with that unswerving devotion, I now pledge myself, during the rest of time, as God allows me, to uphold constitutional principles in the heart of my nation.”
There is speculation that King Charles may abdicate to his son, although this is unlikely.
Some royal observers believe the new monarch knows his time on the throne may be short and is a ‘lookout’ for Prince William.
