Bollywood actress Malika Sherawat complained that her performance was not appreciated.
According to Indian media reports, Malika Sherawat, who started her film career with the film Murder in 2004, expressed her feelings 18 years later.
In an interview, the actress said that she has done what Deepika Padukone did in the film Gehraiyaan 18 years ago, but her acting has never been appreciated.
She compared the Deepika Padukone’s Gehraiyaan with her film Murder and also spoke openly about the changing trends in the film industry. “People in the film industry have always focused on my body and glamor, no one has ever praised my acting,” she added.
Asked about the changes taking place in the film industry, the actress said that in the past, the woman was Sati Sautri or a bad character, in this context, her role was written in the film.
She said that but now it is not like that, now the woman in the film is just a human being, who is happy or sad, makes mistakes or stumbles but still people love her.
Malika Sherawat also said that heroines are very confident about their bodies. When I made the film Murder, there was a lot of noise. People made controversy about kisses scene and short clothes in the film.
The actress said that I also did films like Pyaar Ke Side Effect and Welcome but no one appreciated my acting whereas what Deepika Padukone did in the film Gehraiyaan I did many years ago.
“People were very narrow-minded when the Murder movie released. I was mentally tortured by the industry and the media,” she said.
A few scenes of Malika Sherawat and Emran Hashmi in the film Murder directed by Anurag Basu were widely discussed.
Malika Sherawat is now appearing in Rajat Kapoor’s film ‘RK, RK’, which is all set to release on July 22.
