The University of Health Sciences changed the MBBS syllabus after a decade.
UHS Vice-Chancellor Ahsan Waheed says that the MBBS syllabus changed after more than a decade. Now students will given clinical training from the first day in the medical college.
The Vice-Chancellor has said that the new syllabus will come into effect in medical colleges from March 1, which consists of 44 modules.
After the implementation of the new curriculum, medical students will taught for 5500 hours in 5 years. While 5 hours are reserved for self-study.
In a meeting with University of Lahore Medical College Principal Dr Mehwish Arooj on Thursday, the UHS VC said that the university would now focus on updating the curriculum and developing the faculty.
He further said that the university will not hesitate to seek support and cooperation from other private institutions including the University of Lahore in this regard.
80% of the exams will university professional exams, 20% will be college performance. While in MPhil and other master’s programs, the condition of examining theses by foreign examiners removed.

The UHS decided to conduct MPhil and PhD only in medical fields from next year. While in non-medical fields it approved to close post-graduate degree programs and re-centralize practical examinations.
