Pakistan will look to secure crucial qualifying points in the three-match ODI series against the Netherlands starting on Tuesday to secure a place in the World Cup, while the focus will be on the fitness of star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.
According to the foreign news agency “AFP”, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam said that in view of Shaheen Shah’s fitness, a doctor is also with us.
Star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi suffered a minor knee injury during the recent tour of Sri Lanka, which is a concern for the national team’s participation in the Asia Cup later this month and against arch-rivals India.
On the other hand, the Pakistani team captain does not want to put more pressure on the fast-bowling star cricketer who was introduced to the world stage only 4 years ago and since then has played 97 matches in all three styles of cricket.
Pakistan team captain Babar Azam said, ‘We are taking some doctors with us to take care of Shaheen Afridi and want them to participate in the match against Netherlands to see if he is fit and he is ready for the Asia Cup?
“But we also have 11 trump cards, each of them can be a match winner on their day and there is confidence in all of them, whether they are batsmen or bowlers,” Babar Azam said.
It should be noted that the One Day International series scheduled in Rotterdam was postponed due to the global epidemic Corona virus in 2020.
The series is part of the 13-nation Super League, from which the top 7 teams will qualify for the 2023 World Cup, along with hosts India.
