New Zealand beat England Cricket Team by 74 runs in 3rd T20

Ish Sodhi and Kyle Jamieson took three wickets apiece as New Zealand beat England cricket team by 74 runs in the third T20 International at Edgbaston on Sunday. Keeps the visitors’ hope alive to draw the four-match series.

New Zealand, who had lost their first two matches, opted to bat. Thanked Finn Allen (83) and Glenn Phillips (69) for helping them cross the 200 mark as the pair put on a 47-ball 88-run partnership.

In chasing a big target, England lost their opening four batsmen. Before captain Jos Buttler’s 40 and Moeen Ali’s 26 gave them hope.

However, once Buttler departed after being caught and bowled by Mitchell Santner. Hence, England’s wickets continued to fall at a steady pace. As the hosts collapsed for 128 with nine balls to spare.

The New Zealand captain Tim Southee talk to media, “Finn showed his class today and Glenn has been outstanding for us for a long time, especially on the hard surfaces.

He showed it as a completely different level to everyone else.

“So we got a decent score and then we were more clinical with the ball and also had the advantage of 20 overs looking at England’s ball. It’s good to keep the four-match series alive and in a couple of days we’ll be back in it.”

Buttler praised Gus Atkinson, who added two more wickets to his four-wicket haul on debut in the second T20I.

England cricket team captain says, “Credit to New Zealand. They outplayed us. It was good to win the toss, we gave them too much to win. We couldn’t break that partnership from Alan Phillips and they took the game away.”

Butler says, “I’m very happy for Gus. It was great for him to perform out there, he looked very comfortable.”
