Newly-elected senators took oath – Pakistan

The meeting of the Senate for the swearing-in of the newly elected senators and the election of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Senate is going on under the chairmanship of Ishaq Dar.

The newly elected and successful senators in the by-elections were sworn in. Presiding Officer Ishaq Dar administered the oath to them.

After taking the oath, the roll of members was signed by the senators.

Yousaf Raza Gilani, the candidate of the People’s Party for Senate Chairman, is present in the Senate.

Newly elected senators Mohsin Naqvi, Syedal Khan, Aurangzeb Khan, Hamid Khan, and Amil Wali are also participating in the Senate meeting.

Secretary Senate welcomed all the visiting members.

Muslim League-N nominated Syedal Khan Nasir as Deputy Chairman Senate after which forms of Deputy Chairman Senate were obtained for Syedal Khan Nasir.

Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced a boycott of the election of the Senate Chairman and Deputy Chairman.

Election of chairman without KP members is invalid: Mohsin Aziz

Senator Mohsin Aziz while expressing his views in the House said I congratulate the newly elected members, we will protect today’s oath.

He says that if the Senate unit does not exist, the election is not valid, the election of chairman and deputy without KPK members is illegal.

Mohsin Aziz said that the election of chairman and deputy chairman will be held tomorrow if not today, what is wrong with postponing the election?

He said that if the election is held today, it will not be legitimate, the message will be sent to the world that there is an illegal election, and we will not be a part of this unconstitutional and illegal initiative.

On this occasion, Ishaq Dar said that Azam Nazir should clarify the constitutional and legal position on the Tarar issue.

How many senators took the oath today?

37 newly elected members as senators while 6 senators elected in the by-election also took oath today.

11 senators did not take oath due to no Senate election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

18 members of PPP, 14 members of Muslim League-N, 3 members of JUI, 2 members supported by PTI took oath.

A member of MQM-Pakistan, ANP, National Party also took oath as a senator.

3 independent newly elected members also took oath as senators.

Yousuf Raza Gilani and Rana Mehmoodul Hasan on the general seat from Islamabad, and Ishaq Dar of PML-N on the technocrat seat took oath.

JUI’s Ahmad Khan and Abdul Shakoor, and independent candidate Anwar Haq Kakar also took oath as senators from Balochistan on the general seat.

From Balochistan, ANP’s Emil Wali, National Party’s John Muhammad, People’s Party’s Abdul Qudous Bizenjo, and Sardar Umar Gurgej took the oath.

Jam Saifullah Khan, Aslam Abro, Masroor Ahsan, Dost Ali Jaisar, Ashraf Jatoi, Kazim Ali Shah, and Nadeem Bhutto of the People’s Party took oath on the general seat from Sindh.

Hamid Khan of the Sunni Ittehad Council and Allama Nasir Abbas of Mdbilo MK also took the oath.
