Pakistan Hockey Team leaves to take part in Asia Cup

LAHORE: Pakistan Hockey Team’s 20-men contingent has left Pakistan for Indonesia to take part in the upcoming Hockey Asia Cup, starting from May 23.

Pakistan Men’s National Hockey Team, under the leadership of Umar Bhutta, has left the Allama Iqbal National Airport to travel to Indonesia for the forthcoming tournament.

The national team is attended by its manager, Olympian Khuwaja Junaid, head coach Siegfried Aikman, assistant coaches Waseem Ahmed, Sameer Hussain, and Ajmal Khan, and goalkeeping coach Nadeem Lodhi.

Eight teams will compete in the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup, which will be fragmented into two groups and contain 24 matches.

Pakistan will start their campaign by locking horns with the arch-rivals India on May 23 as the two teams are placed in Group A alongside Japan and the hosts Indonesia. Group B, on the other hand, comprises Malaysia, Korea, Oman, and Bangladesh.
