Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the first Test match thanks to the excellent batting of Abdullah Shafiq and captain Babar Azam and set a new record for the biggest target at the Galle Stadium.
On the fifth day of the first Test of the series in Galle, Pakistan resumed their second incomplete innings with 222 for three, needing 120 more to win.
Pakistan successfully chased down the target of 342 runs at the Galle Stadium, setting a new world record for the highest target at the venue.
A target of more than 300 runs has never been crossed at this stadium before today and the previous record for the highest target was held by hosts Sri Lanka when they set a target of 268 runs against New Zealand in 2019.
Abdullah Shafiq was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant batting.
It should be noted that Sri Lanka scored 222 runs in the first innings while batting first in the match, in response to which the Pakistan team was dismissed by scoring 218 runs.
In the second innings of the match, Sri Lanka scored 337 runs and gave Pakistan a target of 342 runs for victory which Pakistan achieved at the lost of 6 wickets and won the first test by 4 wickets.
Pakistani cricket team is in full action nowadays to make and break new record in cricket history.
