Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah says that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has not been the Chief Minister constitutionally for not taking the vote of confidence.
Talking to the media in Lahore, Sanaullah says that the notification by the Governor of Punjab is only a formality. As soon as the Governor issues the notification it will implement.
He says that if the decision does not implement, the governor can write to the federal government for governor’s rule. The application of Article 6 to the governor is absurd.
Rana Sanaullah says that the governor is using the powers given by the constitution. The president cannot take any action without the instructions of the prime minister.
He further says that whenever the Assembly session is hold legally, the first task is to elect the Chief Minister.
It should remember Interior Minister claimed on Wednesday that Parvaiz Elahi will not remain the CM Punjab after 4 pm.
He said that Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman will issue a declaration at 4 pm outlining Elahi’s removal from the post. As the Governor has the constitutional authority to direct the Chief Minister to seek a vote of confidence.

He further said that if the vote of confidence is not taken by 4 pm, then the Chief Minister will not take office as per the constitution. If the resistance continues, the Governor may request Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to impose Governor’s rule in the province.
