Possibility of increase in electricity prices across the country. Electricity is likely to become more expensive by 24 paisa per unit across the country.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested this increase from NEPRA as part of the October monthly fuel adjustment.
It has been decided by CPPA that 10 billion 37 crore 72 lakh units of electricity were generated in October.
According to the Central Power Purchasing Agency, the production cost of electricity is 9 rupees 14 paise per unit, while in October, 29.37 percent of electricity generated from water and 15.47 percent from coal.
CPPA further states that during this period 12.12% electricity generated from local gas and 17.22% from imported LNG.

The hearing on the application of the Central Power Purchasing Agency in NERPA will be on November 29.

Good news for K Electric customers is that electricity is likely to become cheaper in Karachi.
From the monthly fuel adjustment, K Electric customers will get a relief of 3 billion 157 million rupees.
NEPRA will hear the applications of K Electric on November 30.
